Hi there. How's it going?

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Rend.

A bit about myself...
I'm a 20-something hippie-ish fellow with a friendly demeanor, a mild sarcastic streak, and a penchant for buggery the creative. I moved to the valley a bit less than a year ago form Washington state.

I'm fairly new to this whole furry thing, having begun to dabble in it because of porn a deep-seated interest in art of many kinds. I don't really identify as another species, which I guess makes me some kind of token human.

I'm a pretty active fellow; i spend a lot of time outdoors, usually gardening, exploring parks, playing disc golf, or zipping around on a ridiculously cheap bicycle. When not outside, I generally spend a lot of time staring at a computer screen, drawing, and cooking many delicious things.

At any rate, I figured that since I really don't have anything better to do, i might check out the furry social dynamic, see if I can make a few friends, or at least get myself out of the house more often. Who knows, maybe the furry subculture will turn out as something i do more than just dabble in and observe with one foot in the door.

Tl;dr- Hi.

*You hear a large explosion in a building nearby and a shout of "Oh no, it can't be... this can only mean one thing!" and then a bothered looking quadruped wolf walks out and spots you muttering "oh no... no, no, no, no, no, no..." as he walks up to you "I'm sorry sir but for the safety of the continuum you're either going to have to pick a species or be assigned one," and then pulls you into a laboratory where you can see bottles and bottles of transformation potions carefully sorted by species and style (quad, biped, taur) and indicates for you to take one "quickly now" he urges "pick one, the fate of animal-kind is at stake"*

One thing people always forget about science: science never demands a rational explanation for anything. To science anything is possible... including magic... especially magic.

Hey there and welcome! From Washington, eh? It's really pretty up there. What drew you down here to the desert heat? You get a stamp of approval from me on the outdoorsy activities, and there's plenty of opportunity for that here.

As far as getting your feet wet in the fandom, the group here is pretty friendly and accepting (as Luke there has just shown :P ). We've got a few regular public meets that are really fun. Though I'll warn you now that furry tends to be a slippery slope...you'll be neck-deep soon enough if you don't watch out ;)

Welcome, Rend! You don't have to be an animal if you don't want to. Though you're welcome to try the Generic Canid or Generic Feline starter kits. :=~

Mostly economics. Couldn't find a job up there and had a chance at insanely cheap living arrangements down here.
What sort of outdoorsy stuff do you like to indulge in? I'm in the market for someone to go do stuff with... People around here are very antisocial, though, so I have yet to really gain myself a riding/hiking/disc golf buddy. (no seriously. you wave to someone or try to strike a conversation and they turn their heads to look away and avoid eye contact so fast that i worry they might sprain their necks... It's nauseating. Hoping that maybe some folks in this group are less cold and unfriendly.)

Thanks. I might get to that part eventually. Might not. Guess time will tell!

No no no. Don't you see? They're a lurker...

I'll be that's more a scaly than a furry and by far the scariest 'sona I've ever come across... but we shouldn't judge people on the basis of their species... My gawd, it's got knives for hands. Didn't fidget warn us about those? Anyways, he friendly enough. I'm sure he doesn't bite, why don't you go over and say hello Luke :P.

I wasn't gonna say it, but those are probably more suitable than anything else xD

Hiking, camping, scenic driving, landscape photography...exploring in general. I fancy the forest more than the desert, even though I'm very soon moving to Phoenix from Northern AZ. It'll be nice to get out of the heat once I'm down there, so I'll definitely be up for some outings. As far as the anti-socialness goes, I'm a bit shy around new people, especially in larger groups. But once I starting talking and getting to know someone I usually warm up quickly. I can imagine the general public in Phoenix being more distant from each other and keeping to their own business mostly because that how big cities generally go. I've lived in small towns all my life so that will be a new thing for me as well.

*gasps* you could be right Dante, we may need to send him through the delurkifier machine, unfortunately many of our brethren have been infected by lurkers causing hideous transformations and a resultant downfall in the energy that powers our world.... forum activity... if this is a lurker though it has taken the first steps in being cured,... coming forth from the shadows.
