Updated 07/30/21AZ Furs are Furries in Arizona. The real question you might have is, "What are furries?"The term furry describes a diverse community of fans, artists, writers, gamers, and role players. Most furries create for themselves an anthropomorphized animal character (fursona) with whom they identify and can function as an avatar within the community. Some furries wear elaborate costumes or paraphernalia such as animal ears or tails, or represent themselves as anthropomorphic animals in online communities such as Second Life, VR Chat, NeosVR, and more. Furry fandom is an inclusive term that describes the community of furries that span online, local, and international settings. The furry fandom is global, with thousands of local groups existing worldwide and hundreds of conventions held annually. Like many fandoms, furries overlap with other fandoms such as anime or science fiction.Furries are often associated with a particular type of art or genre such as sci-fi or fantasy. Furry characters and stories frequently overlap with these genres but they should not be confused with them. There are lots of other fandoms that play with other fantasy tropes and creatures, but Furry is 'about' animal characters.Furries are not a specific age or gender demographic because the fandom is so diverse. A furry can be an introvert or extrovert, they can be any gender and any age. Many furries have interests in comics, arts, and/or games. However, there are no expectations that all one's interests must converge into one particular area (e.g. comic books, anime, video games, science fiction etc.). There are many types of furs...
As many of you know, we ended our meetup.com account at the end of last year. The reason for this is that it was under utilized and cost too much to maintain. Rather than keep paying for it, we chose to move all events to AZfurs.com. It has all the features of meetup and then some, allowing people to see events without having an account, and to RSVP after setting up an account. This is particularly useful for people who don't use FB, Twitter or FurAffinity. All of our main events will still be posted to those places, as well as this website. Also, anyone can post an event here and have it show up right away. You can control the privacy as well, making them only visible to registered users or your friends. Be aware that events are subject to moderation, and if we feel that the event does not follow our code of conduct, it will be removed and you will be notified....
First of all, thank you to the community for your understanding and patience. I apologize for the data loss and the long time it took to restore the user database and files. I have taken steps to prevent this in the future, such as offsite backups every week, and onsite backups every day on to a dedicated drive. I created this site in 2013, and so far we have only had 1 data loss event, and 2 major outages. For a small site like ours, that is pretty good, but something we never want to have to deal with again. To all users who lost their profile, you are free to create a new one. It is even easier than ever with Facebook and Twitter integration. For users that did not lose their profile, they may notice some photos, posts and other things missing. I can't recover that data, but I can protect the data you create here from today forward. Now, on to the new site!As you probably already noticed, we have finally updated the look of the site for 2018. The site has looked the same for the past 5 years, not that it was bad, but it was old. The new site is responsive and should look pleasant on every device you use. The community is better integrated into every page with the new layout, now you can see your notifications on all pages. We have also added new features, like the events calendar, blogs, video sharing, and more. Explore all...
Come hang out with us at our regular meets and events! We love meeting new furs and people who are interested in the fandom. Check out the Events section for more information.
